Long before she was transformed into a Guardian and trained to fight demons, Rosalia knew darkness all too well. Raised by a demon, Rosalia learned to guard her heart—and her soul—until she found a man worthy of her love. Once, she thought that man would be the powerful vampire, Deacon…until he betrayed the Guardians. After losing everything to the lies of a demon, Deacon lives only for revenge—and is taken aback when Rosalia offers to help. A vampire who has nothing—who is nothing—isn’t worthy of her attention. But Rosalia wants to do more than just look, and the explosive need between them can’t be held in check. And when Deacon’s vengeful quest creates a dangerous alliance of their enemies, she will be his only hope…
First off if you’re just getting started with the Guardian Series by Meljean Brook hooray for you, this is one series that will have you turning the pages faster than your fingers can keep up. Also if you haven’t yet read any of Meljean Brooks other books in this series, and are starting with Demon Blood, Meljean Brook has a great prologue that goes into vast detail about the Guardians, and how they came to be.
I also want to note that Meljean Brook also has a section at her website that can help those who, even having read the previous books, may be looking for a refresher (like me). As well as anyone who has started the series with Demon Blood, and need some inside information to help fill in the blanks.
So now with that solved, let’s talk about Demon Blood, shall we...
Believe me you will be as captivated and amazed as I was when the subplots begin to come together, and all the pieces come together. The secondary characters add just enough interaction to keep readers intrigued and the main characters on their toes. It is however the yummy combination of heat and sensuality that Deacon and Rosalia bring to the story that will captivate you, and keep the pages turning.
Deacon’s character has the entire sexual prowess that a vampire should have. He is not only dark and dangerous; he exudes the power and strength of a perilous opponent whether in pursuit of an enemy his wants to destroy, or when it comes to the pursuit of a woman he wants in his bed. Oh my gosh, his sexy as hell attitude, radiates the bad boy who’s just looking for the right women who can not only handle all that alpha magnetism, but also has the strength to stand up to a man used to having things on his own terms, and his own way.
Rosalia’s character is not only strikingly beautiful she also has the strength and dexterity to make her a fearsome Guardian. Rosalia has the physical strength it takes to fight a formidable enemy like a demon, she also has a vehemence that comes from being raised by one. It also makes give her just the right amount of fortitude to be an ideal partner to help Deacon in his quest for revenge. The fact that she is not only cunning, her vehemence will also make her the ideal partner in his bed too.
That is however; until Deacon begins to suspect that Rosalia shrewdness may have been used before, only it wasn’t a demon she used it on. You might go so far as to say she knows things about Deacon past better then he knows himself.
When the torrent of a past discretion comes to light, let me just tell you, there will be nothing that can stop the sparks from flying once the floodgates are opened. Demon Blood is not just a book, it’s an adventure.
I feel I should warn you; Meljean Brook gift for storytelling is contagious.
