Summary:
Vampire hunter Gideon Green sure as hell never intended to become a vampire’s servant. But when Anwyn Naime, a woman with whom he shared an unforgettable night, is turned by a vampire pack, they become bound by something far greater than either imagined. It also forces Gideon into an uneasy alliance with one of the most terrifying vampires he’s ever encountered: the mysterious Daegan Rei.
Daegan also has a vested interest in Anwyn. His history with the lovely nightclub owner is both intimate and intense. As Gideon and Daegan shepherd Anwyn through her dangerous validation with the Vampire Council, it’s clear the three of them must learn to trust each other. But as boundaries between them erode and vulnerabilities surface, Gideon realizes he is no longer the man he thought he was--changed by a strange and unexpected bond with the two new people in his life he can’t survive without…vampires.
Review:
Even though Gideon’s becoming Anwyn’s third-mark servant is only supposed to be temporary, his steadfastness that it stays short-term is beginning to weaken. Perhaps it has something to do with his questioning the reasons behind his prejudice towards vampires. Undoubtedly the chemistry the two of them share sexually has something to do with his weakening resolution. Comprehension that staying has become less to do with Anwyn needs, and more to do with being considered necessary. And though confusing, his sharing Anwyn’s affection with Daegan having less to do with Anwyn’s desire for both of them sexually, and more with his increasing desire to be shared by both of them…(oh mama)
Whatever the cause of the sudden change in Gideon’s declining distaste towards vampires; his being responsible for the death of so many vampires is still significant in their distaste of him. It isn’t a question of if they will seek retribution for those deaths, but how.
This becomes evident at Anwyn’s validation with the Vampire Council, when Gideon realizes regardless of the extenuating consequences surrounding his transformation from vampire hunter to a vampire’s servant, he must now face the ramifications of what that means. Especially when it comes to the politics surrounding vampires, in regards to their sharing of servants. Their meandering use of servants as tools, or weapons depending on whose doing who or what to whom, in whatever deviant modus operandi they choose as long as it suits their needs…(holy crap that was a month full).
With so much uncertainty surrounding him, one thing is clear; Gideon’s mounting desires, however confusing, may not be enough to hinder his leaving unless he can learn to trust both of them first.
Is there any wonder it’s taken two books to tell this story!!!
Vampire Trinity is unquestionably packed with sexual characteristics. No one can ever accuse any of the books in Joey Hill’s, Vampire Queen Series, lacking when it comes to the sexual factor needed to classify it as erotica/BDSM. She has nonetheless raised the bar when it comes to the standard, pretty much just sex, foundation that erotica/BDSM is built upon. She has added a good story around all that sex. Giving the reader a little more bite (no pun intended) to go with the bang (again no pun intended). J
Throughout this series, Joey W. Hill has gracefully blended genres, and has used this blending as a catalyst to explore the more stringent aspects involved in Dominant/submissive sexual relationships. Maybe by adding the paranormal genre to this mix she is able to give the reader the illusion or permission, if you will, to explore this world without feeling they are compliant to what polite society deems illicit behavior.
Oooor…maybe she just thought; “how hot would it be to write a series about scandalously dominant vampires with dexterous sexual vigor, enthralling beauty and give them human servants to have hot money sex with… and see what happens?” I mean sometimes a spade is just a spade. Regardless of why, Ms. Hill is a talented writer with a style that can only be deemed exclusively hers.
Putting aside the scintillating sexual influence for a moment… Wait, what? Why would she ask us to put that aside, she must be joking…she is joking right????” Hold your horses; I just want you to also understand that all of the books in this series are ardently poignant romances at their finest.
Joey W. Hill has combined perfectly synchronized characters that while stimulating your libido, will also capture your heart. Keeping you riveted to the very last page.
For those of you like me that can’t wait for the next book in this series, I’m afraid that won’t be until, Vampire Instinct comes out in July of 2011. L
